The Mississippi State University-Meridian chapter of MGSCA was the first university student chapter chartered in the state. MGSCA provides a network of support for graduate students majoring in counseling and encourages their professional and personal growth. MGSCA sponsors a scholarship awarded to graduate students to encourage research on counseling issues. They also sponsor workshops and conferences for professional development. The MSU-Meridian chapter is helping other higher education institutions in Mississippi organize MGSCA chapters.
