MSU Meridian Campus - Missippi State University

B.A. in General Liberal Arts

The program consists of three distinct components: (1) the University Core Curriculum; (2) the College of Arts and Sciences Core Curriculum for the Bachelor of Arts degree; (3) major courses at the 3000-4000 level in three different subject areas for a total of 36 credit hours (12 credit hours in each of three subject areas, one of the three subject areas may be outside of the College of Arts and Sciences). An appropriate junior/senior writing course is also required.

The GLA is a rigorous program requiring a minimum grade point average of 2.5 on the first four semesters of college work for admission. Students wishing to enter the GLA program must fill out an application form which includes the listing of the four major courses in each of the proposed three subject areas and an essay outlining the reason(s) for choosing the GLA program. Application forms must be approved by a faculty committee and the Associate Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences. Only after these approvals will the students be formally admitted into the program.
