The Advising Center was created in October 2000 to meet the needs of all transfer students entering the Meridian Campus. In the past, academic advising was provided in the divisions of Arts and Sciences, Business, and Education. There was a need for competent, knowledgeable advisors who could be thoroughly trained in each discipline. The Advising Center will fulfill this need and provide a central location for incoming students.
The staff is responsible for handling all intake academic advising, which includes transcript evaluation, education program/professional goals evaluation and planning, admissions criteria, academic amnesty evaluation, institutional policy advice, and the assessment of any other academic needs of the student. After their initial evaluation and enrollment, students will meet with their faculty advisors for registration in future semesters.
The center staff is composed of Regena Clark and Carol Lawson. Ms. Lawson's primary area is education. Ms. Clark will assist students seeking business, general liberal arts, and interdisciplinary studies degree programs of study.
